Ramanlal Vora will file nomination for speaker tomorrow – Nitin Patel

Gandhinagar: Former Gujarat Minister Ramanlal Vora will file his papers for the post of speaker of the Gujarat Assembly tomorrow as the candidate of the ruling BJP.
However the name of the deputy speaker’s candidate has not yet been finalized by the party which has an overwhelming majority with 121 MLAs in 182 member assembly.
The candidates of the party are certain to make for the respective posts looking at the arithmatic of the house.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel informed newsmen here today that Mr Vora, who held the portfolio of social justice and empowerment department in the earlier Mrs Anandiben government, had been elected as the party’s choice for speaker. ‘Mr Vora will file papers tomorrow,’ he said.
He said that the name of the party candidate for deputy speaker’s post has not yet been decided. The party is to decide it and a decision will be taken before the expiry of the time to file nomination papers for the post tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Assembly Secretary D M Patel said that the nominations for both the posts could be filed till 12 pm tomorrow. Any member of the house can file papers with at least one member as proposer as per the rule. The election if the need be or the formal announcement (in case of single nomination) for both the posts would be done on the first day of the comming two day monsoon session of the assembly from August 22,’ he said.
The former Speaker Ganpat Vasava and deputy speaker Atmaram Parmar both had resinged from their posts following change of guard in the state and have been inducted in Vijay Rupani goverment as cabinet rank ministers.
Mr Parmar has fot the charge of Mr. Vora’s former department.
