Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has taken a decision to release salary of government employees earlier so that they may celebrate the festival of Diwali in joyous mood.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Shri Nitin Patel, salary for the month of October 2016 will be paid during 24-25 October.

Patel added that the decision has been taken in response to representations made by various unions of employees.

The decision will benefit over 4.65 lakh employees. The government will be paying around Rs 2,000 crore salary to employees on advanced date.
