Don’t draw and hoard small denominations note: RBI
November 13, 2016
Ahmedabad: People are holding back notes, particularly of Rs 100 and Rs 50 denomination and treating them as golden bricks post demonetization move. In view of this, The Reserve Bank of India has today appealed not to draw and hoard as ‘enough cash in small denominations is available at RBI and other banks’.
The Reserve Bank in its statement said: The Reserve Bank assures members of the public that enough cash in small denominations is also available at the Reserve Bank and banks. The Reserve Bank urges that public need not be anxious; need not come over to banks repeatedly to draw and hoard; Cash is available when they need it.
In another trouble, Rs 2,000 notes are proving unusable for most tasks, as noone is ready to give change and lose small denomination notes therefore that are in shortage at their place.
