Chosen ‘Jansabha’ to express views on demonetization as opposition not allowing to speak in Loksabha:Modi
December 10, 2016
By correspondent, Deesa: Amid the logjam in the Parliament over demonetization issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that as the opposition parties were not allowing him to speak in the Loksabha he has chosen the alternative of Jansabha (public meeting) to express his views on the issue meant to curb corruption and black-money menace in the country.
Addressing a rally at the airport in this town of Banaskantha district in North Gujarat after inauguration of Rs 350 crore Amul Cheese and Whey plant of Banas Dairy and dedicating various products including A 2 Kankrej cow milk and marking the beginning of centenary year of Late Galbabhai Patel, the founder of the dairy, the Prime Minster also said that after the expiry of 50 days post demonetization the difficulties of common people will fade away slowly and the situation will again become normal. He also appealed the people to adopt the mobile banking and e wallet. He also said that he will not leave the corrupt ones at any cost and said that on getting opportunity he will also put forth the views of the 125 crore Indians on the issue in Loksabha also.
The Prime Minister said that despite being from a different political background the President was also compelled to make public comment on the ruckus in the parliament.
Mr Modi also requested the opposition to take up a campaign to educate people about benefits of digital banking.
In his typical style Mr Modi, during his over 30 minutes long speech in Hindi, said, ‘ Pure Desh me is baat par charcha chal rahi hai ki noto ka kya hoga. Par iske baad Chhote noto or chhote logo ki taqat badh gayi. Maine garib aur samanya logon ki taqat badhane ke liye hi yah faisla kiya tha (Now the country is discussing what will happen to the notes. You tell me, what was the value of small denomination notes of 100, 50 and 20 before November 8. Did any one cared for small people. Every body cared for big people as they cared for big denomination Rs 1000 and 500 notes. But after this the power of small people and small notes has increased. I had taken this decision for this purpose.)
Mr Modi said, ‘ Earlier in every transaction there was talk of Kutcha and Pucca bills. The continuous printing of notes had created the mountain of notes under which the economy was under pressure. My fight is also with terrorism which gains strength from fake notes which are mostly printed outside the country. After the demonetization the naxals are now thinking of joining the main stream. The terror funding has got a death-blow.’
The Prime Minister said that the corrupt ones were not concerned about the menace of corruption even if they had to pay bribe etc for their work. ‘Only the honest ones were facing difficulties owing to corruption. And today when they are standing with me on demonetization issue attempts are being made to provoke them but I am happy that despite such attempts such people are with me.’
He said that some people argue that the fruits of demonetization will be visible only after their death. ‘Ours in not the country of selfish people. We don’t accept the Charvak’s philosophy of taking debt to lead a luxurious life and not to care for the things of the future or after one’s death. The new Charvak’s who have emerged will have to think 50 times that ours is not a selfish country. Here even old parents save money with difficulty for their children.’
The Prime Minister said,’ The parliament is not functioning. It is not being allowed to function. Even the president who has such a vast experience in public life had despite coming from a different political background publicly took up the opposition for disrupting the proceedings of the house. The government says that the Prime Minister is ready to speak in the house but as the opposition knows that its falsity would be caught, I am not being allowed to speak in the Loksabha. That’s why I have chosen the Jansabha to express my views. If I get an opportunity I will also put forth the views of 125 crore people in the house as well.’
Trying to establish an analogy between the elections process and demonetization move, the Prime Minister said that as during elections the opposition parties vehemently attack each other but look united on the issue of proper preparation of voter lists, ensuring larger turnouts and proper working of EVM’s, they should criticize him on demonetization but at the same time start campaigns to educate people about the digital banking.
Mr Modi said, ‘ None of the opposition parties are asking for roll back of demonetization. They are only saying that it should be implemented properly. I appeal them that criticize me but please use this good opportunity to change the fate of the nation by educating people about the benefits of digital banking. The Rashtraniti should be above Rajniti. If the opposition do so I will be very happy. It is easy to talk about poor people but to do something for them is not so easy. I had already said that it was not an easy decision but a very difficult one.’
The Prime Minster said,’ I had said that there will be difficulty for 50 days. In the beginning it will increase but I have made calculations that after 50 days things will gradually ease up and the situation will be back to normal later. This is a very important step to curb the corruption and black-money. Our government will not spare the corrupt ones. Such bankers are being caught. Those trying to fly with huge cash are also being nabbed. They must have thought to use the back route but they forgot that Modi has put cameras along the back-doors too. whoever has committed wrong after November 8, will have to face the music. I thank the honest people who were standing in the lines and facing difficulty not for them but for the betterment of the nation.’
He said that in earlier days heavy silver coins served as money and passing through various metals stages the paper money is accepted. Now the people should move towards e wallets which is very helpful and easy way for transaction of money. He said that transaction through cheques is also a major cause of dispute as large number of litigation are related to cheque bouncing. He said that the infrastructure and technology for digital banking is available in the country and people should be made aware of it on large scale. He also sought blessings of the people in his war against corruption.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Banas Dairy Chairman and minister Shanker Chaudhary, Union Minister Purushottam Rupala and Haribhai Chaudhary were also present on the occasion.
