Over 300% more railway allocation to Gujarat by Centre compared to UPA govt: Suresh Prabhu

Gandhinagar: Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu today while speaking at inauguration function for redevelopment of Gandhinagar railway station in Gujarat said, the project will be completed by 2019 and the Prime Minister would inaugurate it ahead of the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit scheduled to take place in January 2019.
Prabhu said the present government in Centre has allocated Rs 2400 crore each year for Gujarat in the sector of Railways which is 300% higher compared to Rs 588 crore allocation annually to Gujarat in this sector by earlier UPA government.
Prabhu said the Surat railway station redevelopment model in which local, state and central government are partners will be replicated elsewhere across the country.
Prabhu said the government has World Bank fund which can be utilized for redevelopment of railway stations till the time we can find private partners to achieve Public Private Partnership.
