Surat: A team of Chinese engineers and workers will camp in Surat for next few months to errect cables for cable stayed bridge over river Tapi here.

The cables that are tested in Chicago based laboratory for its strength and durability are arrived in Surat. Approximately six-month long erection procedure will take place under supervision of Chinese team which has expertise for such work.

The bridge project is delayed due to termination of contract assigned to Gamen India. The new contract was awarded to Unique construction.

While most of the works are completed, erection of cable is pending.
