Chundadi to be offered to river Narmada ahead of PM visit, 8 townships to become cashless

Bharuch: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Bharuch in Central Gujarat on March 7. He will dedicate new river bridge on Narmada and OPal plant at Dahej.
The Prime Minister will dedicate Rs 27,000 crore OPal plant which is going to make great contribution to plastic and medical sectors in India. This plant has been set up jointly b ONGC, GAIL and GSPC. It is likely to provide employment to 20,000 persons. The plant is spread over 508 acre land in Dahej Special Economic Zone(SEZ) area.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate new river bridge on Narmada. This new four-lane cable stayed bridge on Ahmedabad – Vadoara – Surat – Mumbai highway built at a cost of Rs 379 crore will ease the massive traffic problem on this important stretch. Daily 40,000 vehicles are expected to use this new bridge which is 1344 meter long and 20.8 meter wide. River Narmada had first bridge in 1881. It is now 136 years old and known as Golden bridge. The other bridge was old Sardar bridge which was opened in November 2000.
After opening the new bridge, Prime Minister will address public meeting at Agriculture University campus in nearby Maktampur where around 50,000 to 1 lakh people are likely to remain present.
The Prime Minister will announce 8 industrial townships, 109 petrol pumps and 20 gas agencies in the district 100% cashless during his visit.
683 cleanliness workers are making the city clean ahead of Prime Minister’s arrival. Cleanliness campaign is also going on in nearby Jambusar and Amod towns of Bharuch district. In last few days 575 mt solid waste has been removed while 50 km road has been made cleaner. 3200 kg powder has been used in cleanliness drive.
Ahead of PM’s visit, on Monday, March 6 and event has been organized in Bharuch to offer chundadi to Narmada Maiya. The chundadi piece of cloth will be so long that it will touch both the banks of river Narmada. Oil lamps are to be floated in the river on eve of opening of new bridge. During the arrival of PM, both the banks of river Narmada will see cultural performances of folk artists.
