Works start for four laning of highway to Statue of Unity

Rajpipla: Minister of State in central government Mansukh Mandavia today launched the works for Rs 223 crore four laning of national highway number 56 stretch connecting Devaliya and Rajpipla(Statue of Unity).
Mandavia said the government had earlier taken up Dabhoi-Devalia and Rajpipla-Ankleshwar foud laning works at a cost of Rs 700 crore. Today Rs 223 crore works are launched for four laning of Devalia-Rajpipla highway. In addition to this approvals are given for Rs 44 crore new bridge construction over river Narmada near Garudeshwar. A 50 km stretch connecting Maharashtra to Gujarat passes through Narmada district which will also see expenditure of Rs 400 – 500 crore. Thus this area will witness Rs 1000-1200 crore road works in addition to other development works that are already going on.
Mandavia said the sight of Statue of Unity will emerge as another global tourist spot in Gujarat like white Rann of Kutch. Mandavia said the present government has decided to develop 1 lakh km national highway roads in its five-year tenure, of which 22,000 km roads are already completed while 57,000 km works are in progress. Daily 134 km roads are being built to connect villages. In previous government only 4 km per day national highways were built.
