Rounds of meetings in Capital to find replacement of Pandey, Johari, Kumar and Jha top contenders

Gandhinagar: Rounds of high level meetings were on in the capital city Gandhinagar in the wake of the apex court order to remove in-charge DGP P P Pandey and find his replacement.
The government is likely to issue the notification about the replacement of Mr Pandey this evening.
A meeting presided by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in which minister of state for home Pradipsinh Jadeja also participated took place in CMO in this regard.
Three names are doing the rounds as the top contenders as replacement to Mr Pandey, who was on a three months extension post his retirement from service. These are the senior most police official and DGP police awas nigam Mrs Geeta Johari, DGP (Armed Unit) Pramod Kumar and ADGP rank officer and former police commissioner of Ahmedabad Shivanand Jha.
Notably the Supreme Court has passed the order on the appeal against the Gujarat high court order on a petition by former police official Julio Ribeiro challenging the appointment of Mr Pandey despite him being an accused in Ishrat Jaha encounter case.
