Ahmedabad-Mahesana highway remained closed for 10 hours

Mahesana: The Mahesana-Ahmedabad Highwya remained closed for traffic for more than 10 hours following gas leakage from a tanker after an accident near Jagudan village under taluka police station of Mahesana district in North Gujarat in the wee hours today.
Police today said that a gas tanker collided with a speeding truck on the highway at around 0100am past midnight. The gas in the tanker started leaking prompting police to cordon off the area. Two km area around the accident site was declared no entry zone as a precautionary measure.
Four fire fighting vehicles and experts of chemical accident were rushed to the spot.
The tanker and the truck were safely removed from the highway and the traffic could be normalized on the highway from around 1100am this morning after 10 hours of jam owing to which kms long queue of vehicles was formed on either side.
No casualty had taken place in the collision.
