Surat: Elected municipal councillors from opposition party are often found creating ruckus just for political point scoring. Police in Surat yesterday put Congress councillor Aslam Cyclewala in lockup for creating ruckus over rivalry with Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) worker Pankaj Thakkar. Both Cyclewala and Thakkar were in clash over the issue of gutter cleaning. SMC team ha arrived in Khwaja Nagar area for cleaning a gutter line. Thakkar and Cyclewala both were claiming credit for this cleaning work. On complaint by Thakkar, Cyclewala was detained under section 151 and put in lockup by local police. After protest by Congress workers, ACP Bhakti Thakar and others rushed to local police station and Cyclewala was released. Cyclewala is spokesperson in city unit of Congress party.
