New Delhi: Entire top rank of Gujarat Congress  is in Delhi to attend coordination committee meeting with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

Upcoming Gujarat election is single and only broad issue on the agenda in this meeting.

“Core committee members of Gujarat Congress are meeting today in Delhi as upcoming Gujarat election is very important for Congress party. Senior leaders will together discuss political situation of Gujarat and ways to get victory in upcoming Gujarat election. A strategy to win the election will be chalked out in this meeting,” said Shankersinh Vaghela, the leader of opposition.

Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki said, the meeting will discuss the issues such as urban seats, rural seats, ways to get majority to form government, various issues that can be raised, ways to win youths and women segments, ticket allocation and its timing etc with open heart.

Solanki said the party will give more importance to Patidar community in ticket allocation in Gujarat election.

Solanki in reply to a question by media persons clearly stated that there’s no tradition in Congress to announce Chief Ministerial candidate before the election. He said elected MLAs would choose their leader who ultimately would become Chief Minister.

It should be mentioned that Shankersinh Vaghela is seeking free-hand in Gujarat election and ticket allocations and also wishing to be declared Chief Ministerial candidate of Congress party ahead of Gujarat election.

Shankersinh notably left the meeting midway. When asked by reporters gathered outside, Shankersinh said he had some work outside and he would return afterwards. 15 minutes after Shankersinh left the place, other leaders came out.

Later Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki came out and spoke to media persons. He said Shankersinh left the meeting only after the meeting was over. The other leaders continued to be inside as they wanted to meet Shri Rahul Gandhi. Bharatsinh said Rahulji will meet whoever wants to meet him individually after 3.30 pm at his residence.

Solanki said, campaign committee, coordination committee, publicity committee, election committee etc are to be declared after discussion with Ashok Gehlotji soon.

Solanki said the party would win Gujarat election with 2/3rd majority.

There were 31 members in coordination committee who are attending the meeting at Congress party’s ‘war room’  31 GRG road.
