Surat: The health department of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) today sealed a packaged drinking water supply plant in the city owing to finding the place unclean with mosquito breeding.

Health officer of SMC Dr Ashish Naik said that as part of a routine check the plant of a firm by name Shiv Marketing situated in Khodiyarnagar was visited by the health department team of the corporation.

It was found that the place was very unclean with mosquito breeding around there.
The company used to fill water in 20 liters jar to supply in various households and commercial establishments.

Dr Naik said that as the plant was found unhygienic and also its owner was not having a proper license, it was sealed and he was imposed with a penalty of Rs 10 thousand.

The plant was selling water for the past over one year.
