Tappar, three other dams in Kutch get Narmada waters, CM to visit the site tomorrow

Bhuj: Four dams in arid district Kutch in Gujarat are to be filled with Narmada water.The dams are Tappar, Fatehgadh nani(Rapar taluka), Fatehgarh moti ,Suvai and Lakdavandh bandhara.
Kutch has total 20 such water bodies.
Around 4 lakh people will be benefited with this development. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will be in Kutch on Sunday to welcome the waters of narmada in Tappar dam. Water supply to Tappar dam has been achieved through a 1800 meter long cyfen which is the second largest in Asia. With Narmada waters in Tappar dam, Kandla, Gandhidham, Adipur, Galpadar, Tappar, Lakhapar, Varsamedi and Modavad etc villages will be benefited.
At present 1 million acre ft water is being received. The dam will be filled till the time this supply is on. Even if in monsoon, the dam overflows, surplus water will go out through a pipeline which was laid in 2015.
