New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will be leaving for Italy in Europe. Rahul announced this on his official twitter handle @officeofRG today.

Rahul tweeted: ‘Will be traveling to meet my grandmother & family for a few days. Looking forward to spending more time with them!’

It’s worth mentioning that Rahul’s mother Sonia Gandhi who is Congress party’s president since 1998 is from Italy. Rahul’s maternal grandmother and family live in Italy.

Rahul’s birthday is 19th June. He travels abroad every year to celebrate his birthday exactly on 19th June or around it. This year he is leaving for abroad, a week before his birthday. It’s not that Rahul only visits abroad to celebrate his birthday during the year. He travels abroad on other occasions too, sometime mysteriously. In 2015 Rahul was missing for 60 days as he was vacationing abroad. Later a section of media based on his air ticket evidence revealed he had returned from Bangkok after vacationing abroad. As the mysterious and undisclosed foreign visits were giving bad press to him, Rahul was advised to declare his foreign visits. Accordingly he has recently adopted a practice to declare his foreign visit on twitter on departure.
