Koli community of Gujarat jubilant over Kovind’s selection: Kovind had visited Gujarat just last week

Gandhinagar: The entire Koli fraternity in Gujarat has shown happiness over selection of Shri Ram Nath Kovind’s selection as NDA’s candidate for upcoming presidential election.
It is to be noticed that Shri Ramnath Kovind is associated with Gujarat’s Koli community for last 15 years. Coming from most deprived section of the society he served top positions through his hard work and also served as a president of Akhil Bharatiya Dalit Samaj.
Shri Kovind had just last week on 13-14 June visited Bagodara, Surendranagar and Gondal in Gujarat to attend arious functions of Koli community and give his guidence. Before that he had participated as the President of the Akhil Bharatiya Koli Samaj, the large gatherings of Koli samaj at Junagadh and Prachi, Somnath and travelled to rural Gujarat.
Having population of over 20% in the Saurashtra region of the state the Talpada, Chunvaliya, Ghediya and Thakore-Koli sections have expressed their delight as the Prime Minister selected Ramnath Kovindji the leader of Koli samaj.
It should be mentioned here that Koli community belongs to Other Backward Class(OBC) segment in Gujarat, however in Uttar Pradesh from where Shri Kovind comes Koli community comes in Scheduled Class(SC) segment.
