No need to come to GPCB for environment clearance anymore, you will get it locally: Rupani to builders

Ahmedabad: Builders and developers will no more need to rush to Gujarat Pollution Control Board office in Gandhinagar to get environmental clearance anymore. All local authorities whether it is a municipal corporation or urban development authorities are given right to give environment clearance.

This announcement was made by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today in Ahmedabd while addressing the builders and developers at Gujarat University convention hall on the occasion of opening of GIHED-CREDAI property show.

The Chief Minister’s announcement was responded by builders with standing ovation.

“For environment clearance, you will not need to go to GPCB. All local authorities are given power for this apprvoal, whether corporations or AUDA or SUDA, they will give environment approvals. You don’t need to go to GPCB. We have given that power to local bodies,” Rupani said.

Rupani said housing is basic necessity and builders contribute to GDP.

Rupani further said, ‘you yourself should count your profit and not the officials. We are creating transperant system and Revenue and Urban Development departments in my government are working on it.’

He added, ‘that doesn’t mean that builders do wrong. We are open to make change in rules. We don’t want to harrase anyone. You may please convey your problems, we will find a way out. At the same time everything should be as per rule.’

Rupani thanked union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu – who was sharing the stage – for inclusion of six cities of Gujarat under central government’s Smart City mission.

Rupani said, ‘I am thankful to Shri Modi and minister Naidu that six cities of Gujarat are declared as smart city. Each of six cities will get Rs 1,000 crore for development and smart city project works.’
