Heavy rain and flood: 14 airlifted, 6,360 shifted to safer places, 3 deaths in Gujarat on Saturday

Rajkot: As per the figures announced by the State Emergency Response Centre, Diyodar taluka in Banaskantha district had highest rain during 8.00 am and 6.00 pm on Saturday which was 8 inch while Kalok taluka had over 7 inch rain. Bhabhar and Radhanpur talukas had 4 inch rain.
13 persons trapped in flood water in Morbi district and 1 in Surendranagar district – in total 14 persons were air lifted and rescued. 5 persons were air lifted from a place near Jaliya village in Dhandhuka belt.
One Wagon R car was drowned near Lalpari talav in Bedi villae of Rajkot district. One person each died in rain related incidents at Ramaliya(Jasdan), Chhabhadia(Lathi) and Selra(Vanthli). which makes total number of death at 3.
17 roads under the State government, 76 under panchayat department and two national highways in Morbi and Banaskantha district – in total 95 road stretches were closed for traffic. 294 villages lost electricity supply.
Highest 6,370 people were shifted to safer places in state-wide efforts. Of them 3,380 were in Surendranagar. 2,780 people returned to their places as water receded.
In response to Gujarat government’s demand, additional six boats are to be sent to the State for NDRF rescue missions. Two NDRF teams from Pune and one additional team from within Gujarat will be deployed for service.
