PM Narendra Modi to do aerial survey of flood-hit Banaskantha in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will do aerial survey of flood-hit Banaskantha district of North Gujarat today evening, said Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.
Prime Minister’s visit will however depend on clear suitable weather.
After the aerial survey, PM will chair a meeting to review progress of flood relief work with CM, state ministers at Ahmedabad Airport.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who was in Delhi today to attend the swearing in function of new President of India Ram Nath Kovind, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House in the morning. Rupani spoke to Prime Minister Modi about the incessant rain and flood in parts of North Gujarat, particularly the northern Gujarat district of Banakantha.
Banaskantha district is witnessing flood-like situation due to heavy rain locally, inflow in dams due to extremely heavy rain in Rajasthan, particularly in Mount Abu, and release of water from dams subsequently.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani yesterday stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi himself and the Prime Minister’s Office(PMO) were in contact with the State government over the flood situation in the State.
He also said that Prime Minister had assured all help from Centre.
Central forces such as NDRF, Indian Air Force and Army are involved in rescue and relief operations in flood-hit areas of Gujarat for last few days. Gujarat had demanded additional NDRF force and boats which were immediately sent by the Centre yesterday.
