July 27, 2017
Ahmedabad: The water level of Sabarmati in Ahmedabad has further come down tonight and it was highly likely that the water would completely recede from the riverfront walk-way by tomorrow if there is no dramatic change in the inflow from Dharoi dam during the night.
The partially closed road adjoining riverfront was also likely to open completely tomorrow.
The water level at Subhash bridge in the city has come down to 137.43 at 8 pm tonight and was further receding with ony around 36440 of inflow from Dharoi and all the 25 gates of Vasna barrage wide open.
The water level of the river at Subhash bridge at 10am this morning was 141.08 meter.
According to AMC control room the lowering of water level in the river has also resulted in receding of water from the flooded walkway of the adjoining riverfront. However it was still closed.
At around 6 pm in the evening yesterday the water level had gone up to as high as 146.95 meters. After that it was continuously receding.
Meanwhile the city has seen over two inches of rain on an average till 9 pm while the southern zone has seen over 3 inches.
However many villages in the central Gujarat districts of Kheda and Anand have been flooded owing to surge in Sabarmati and discharge of water from it. Alert have been sounded in the low lying areas.
