Gujarat Congress gets four Working Presidents
August 25, 2017
Ahmedabad: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has approved the proposal to appoint the following persons as Working Presidents of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect:
Working Presidents:
1. Dr Tushar Chaudhary
2. Paresh Dhanani
3. Kuwarji Bavaliya
4. Karsan Das Soneri
(Karsan Das Sonali written in official communication, we have corrected it to Soneri)
This announcement has been made by party’s General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi.
-Tushar Chaudhary is former MLA and former Minister of State in Centre. He is son of late Congress chief minister Amarsinh Cuahdyar. Tushar is one of tribal faces of State Congress.
-Dhanani is one of the younger lot of Gujarat Congress. He is from Patidar community. He is elected from Amreli in Saurashtra region, one of the poor pockets for State BJP post Patidar quota agitation and even before that. Dhanani stays in news for ruckus he creates in the assembly and subsequent suspensions.
-Kuwarji Bavaliya is from Koli community. He often plays Koli card for his elevation in the party. He was one of the sulking lots even when Congress led UPA was in power. Bavaliya was MLA from Jasdan constituency in Rajkot district. BJP had won Jasdan seat in the past, but in 2012 it was captured by Congress again. Sitting Congress MLA in Jasdan has defected to BJP recently. Koli community influences several seats in coastal and mainland Saurashtra. Bavaliya claims he has good hold over this community. But some recent election results contradict his claim.
-Karsandas Soneri is veteran Dalit face of Gujarat Congress. He hails from Idar in North Gujarat.
