Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to visit Porbandar on October 2

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Porbandar in Gujarat on October 2 which is the birth anniversary of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. Porbandar is birth place of Mahatma Gandhi.
It is learnt that the Prime Minister will attend Sarva Dharma Prarthana at Kirti Mandir the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi. He is also expected to address a public meeting during his visit. The Prime Minister will lay foundation stone for fishing harbor and riverfront projects.
Gujarat is going to have general elections of assembly in the month of December this year, announcement of which is likely to take place anytime in October, most probably in the second week of October. Once the announcement is made, the model code of conduct will be effective in the State. The October 2 visit will perhaps the last visit of the Prime Minister before the announcement of election. The Prime Minister is already scheduled to visit Gujarat twice in September. His first visit will see foundation stone laying for Ahmedabad – Mumbai bullet train project with Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on 13-14 September. His second visit will be on September 17 which is his birthday on which he will inaugurate the Narmada dam and address a public meeting at Dabhoi.
