September 24, 2017
Gujarat government today announced its decision to purchase groundnuts from farmers at minimum support price of Rs 900 per 20 kg.
According to Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, purchase will start from Labh Pancham (25 October).
Rupani said the state government last year purchased groundnut at support price of Rs 844, while this year it has decided to purchase 20 kg groundnuts at higher price of Rs 900.
He said market price at present is around Rs 600 to Rs 650, thus farmers will have Rs 250 benefit per 20 kg(mann).
Rupani said farmers will get additional benefit of Rs 500 crore thanks to this decision.
Rupani appealed that farmers should not sell their produce in hurry.
Purchase will take place through 106 centres.
