JDU candidate with similar name poses a new kind of challenge for Chhotu Vasava
November 21, 2017
Bharuch:
A different kind of challenge has arisen in front of Chhotu Vasava, the president of newly formed Bhartiya Tribal Party (BTP) and former state president and sole MLA of erstwhile JDU in Gujarat.
Vasava today filed his nomination on his seat Jhagadia in Bhruch district as BTP candidate but to his utter surprise a candidate of his own name ie Chhotu Vasava also filed papers today as JDU (Nitish faction which has been declared as the original JDU after dispute with Sharad faction with which Vasava had opted to go) candidate.
Now the difficulty for Vasava lies in the fact this new JDU candidate would not only have the same name as his but also the ‘Arrow’ symbol on which he had contested and won last time around. It might create confusion among voters. In the tribal area of Jhagadia Vasava would have to work hard to reach out to the remote voters who might mistake the new Vasava as him.
The only differentiation between the two would be the middle name or the father’s name.
BLT was contesting in pact with Congress. JDU has also announced to contest 50 seats alone in Gujarat.
