5 who left Congress to join BJP lose election, 2 win

Gandhinagar: 100 candidates fielded by former Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela led Jan Vikalp Morcha has all together got 81,000 votes which comes to 0.38% of total votes. All candidates of Vaghela have mostly lost deposits. Total votes won by all Jan Vikalp candidates can not ensure victory on even one seat.
In another development, five turncoats who had left Congress to join BJP lost the election have faced defeat while two are successful.
14 Congress MLAs had rebelled against the party during Rajya Sabha election this year. Of them 7 were given ticket to contest the assembly poll from BJP. 2 of them Dharmendrasinh Jadeja(Hakubha) and CK Raolji are winner from Jamnagar North and Godhra seats respectively.
Tejashriben Patel(Viramgam), Raghavji Patel(Jamnagar Rural), Amit Chaudhary(Mansa), Ramsinh Parmar(Thasra) and Mansinh Chauhan(Balashinor) have lost the election.
At Sanand, BJP had given ticket to turncoat Congress MLA Karamshi Patel’s son who has been victorious.
BJP had inducted Sidhpur MLA Balwantsinh Rajput to its fold. Rajput was Congress party’s chief whip in assembly. BJP fielded Jaynarayan Vyas on Sidhpur seat and expected to win it with Rajput’s support, however party has lost this seat.
Similarly, Shankersinh Vaghela’s son Mahendrasinh who has yet not joined BJP couldn’t help party to win Bayad seat where he was MLA before he resigned.
BJP had also inducted Jasdan Congress MLA Bholabhai Gohil during Rajya Sabha election. BJP denied ticket to Gohil and fielded Bharat Boghra from Jasdan who has lost the election.
