Only 11.08 % live water storage in Narmada dam

Bharuch: There has been only 11.08% live water stock left in Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam while gross storage remains at 45.86%. Live water storage last year in this dam was 19% while average of last ten years in January is 22%.
Against 5760 million cubic meter(MCM) designed capacity for live water, the Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam has 638.10 MCM live water at present.
The level of water in Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam at present is 115.94 meter(as on January 12). The level of water in dam in the beginning of January was 117.94 meter which has comedown to 115.94 on January 12.
Average inflow is 557 cu sec while outflow in canal is 13,912 cu sec. Release from Godbole gate is 635 cu sec.
Due to lack of release of water from Narmada dam, the river bed of Narmada has narrowed down to 300 meter from 1.3 km.
Power generation this year is down. Canal Head Power House is at present generating 90 MW power against 288 MW last year. River Bed Power House’s all six turbines are shut after monsoon.
