Renovated building of Gujarat Assembly complex to be inaugurated on February 19

Gandhinagar: A revamped building of Gujarat assembly will be opened by the Governor on February 19 with start of the budget session of the assembly.

A 36-year old assembly complex has been renovated in 14-month period by Ahmedabad based PSP Construction.

The original cost of this project was Rs 121 crore however on the tail side, the total amount spent has been Rs 135 crore.

The revamped building of assembly has dome atop it and new elevation.

Though the number of MLAs at present in Gujarat assembly is 182, the total seats in revamped version are 210 considering future needs.

New chamber of chief minister, a cabinet room, separate lounges for gents and women MLAs, maximum usage of glass in order to offer natural lights, latest audio system, CCTV cameras, new TV screen, provision of theme based lighting outside the complex, glimpses of Gujarat in kite shaped frame are some of the highlights of the revamped version of assembly complex.

Ground breaking for the assembly complex of Gujarat had taken place in March 1978 by then President of India. The building was inaugurated in July 1982 by then Governor Sharda Mukherjee.
