BV Doshi becomes first Indian to win Pritzker Prize, PM congratulates him

Ahmedabad: City based 90-year old renown architect Balkrishna Doshi who has his career span of almost 70 years has become the first Indian architect to win the Pritzker Prize which is regarded as the profession’s equivalent to the Nobel Prize.
Doshi described this as “a great surprise” during a phone interview with CNN.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Doshi for the award and tweeted: Congratulations to renowned architect Balkrishna Doshi for winning the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize. This honour is a fitting recognition of his outstanding work, which has spanned decades and made a notable contribution to society.
