Groundnut soil mixing case: Noose tightens against Zalawadia

Police today conducted a raid on the residence of the complainant turned main accused of the sensational groundnut soil mixing case and Saurashtra zone manager of GUJCOT, Magan Zalawadia even as 3 audio clips of his alleged telephonic conversation with a local leader for getting the matter hushed-up have also surfaced.
Police was conducting raid at the residence of Zalawadia in Targadhi villager near here.
He is suspected to have links with other incidents including the fire in various godowns where groundnut purchased at MSP by government agencies like NAFED and GUJCOT was kept.
Meanwhile, in the audio clips that have surfaced Zalwadia is allegedly heard talking to one Mansinh about how he tried to delay the FIR in the soil mixing incident. He is reportedly heard asking the man to take helps from the level of local MP and ruling party’s district president along with Agriculture minister to somehow hush up the matter. He is however heard saying the government and higher ups were creating pressure for action in the matter.
Notably 19 accused 2 NAFED and as many GUJCOT officials including Zalawadia who were arrested two days ago in connection with the sensational groundnut soil mixing case of Pedhla village in Jetpur taluka of Rajkot district were yesterday produced in a court in Jetpur which allowed 10 days remand of nine of them including Zalawadia and 5 days of the remaining 8.
