After a year, tail-end story of tallest hoisted tricolor in Gujarat
August 15, 2018
Vadodara: A year ago on Independence Day, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had dedicated the tallest hoisted Indian national flag in Gujarat at Vadodara. In last one year, the flag – 72 ft long and 48 ft wide – hoisted over 214 ft high pole was torn down by wind as many as 65 times. Each time, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation(VMC) would order a new flag from Mumbai which would cost more than Rs 40,000. With the project proved flop and impractical, the VMC has permanently dropped an idea and decided to hoist the flag only on Independence day and Republic day. On both occasions, a tricolor would be unfurled in the morning and removed in the evening.
