Water level of Sardar Sarovar Narmada reservoir at 127.37 m, live storage nearly 48%

Vadodara: The water level of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam reservoir, the lifeline of Gujarat’s water supply, has reached 127.37meter today and was almost constant at that level for past eight hours.

At 1 pm today the water level was 127.37 m (constant since 5 am today) and the inflow and outflow were also almost similar at around 20 thousand cusec. Due to the running of hydel power units at Indirasagar and Omkareskhwar in Madhya Pradesh, water level has seen increase. Now the units have been stopped since 12 pm. If it remains so then the water level would start receding again.

The live water storage in the dam at 1 pm today was 2619.19.26 million cubic meter ( 47.92% of total live storage capacity).
Notably the new overflow mark of the dam after installation of sluice gates last year is 138.48meter. It was 121.92 m earlier on.

Though the river bed hydel unit of SSNNL is not running for increasing the storage of water yet owing to supply to canals for irrigation purposes 4 of the 50 MW capacity each units of canal head power house were running.
