Paddy, Maize and Bajra MSP procurement begin in Gujarat, more centers to be opened if needed, says Minister

Gandhinagar: Minister, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Jayesh V Radadiya today said that the government has ensured that there won’t be any irregularity in the procurement process of paddy, maize and Bajara at MSP and if the need be more centers for the same would be opened.
After inaugurating a procurement center here at Bavala APMC along with Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel, Radadia said that the farmers were getting around one and a half times price than the price of last year for their produces.
‘We have ensured that not a single farmer face any kind of difficulty during the procurement process. The registration for the same is online and there was strict check on any kind of wrong-doing. Initially it has been decided to open 188 centers across the center but the government can open more procurement centers if the need arises,’ he added.
Notably, as per the union government MSP policy the procurement of parddy, maize (Danagar, Makai) and Bajara would continue till till December 31.
Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation is the nodal agency for the procurement to be done through 188 centers across the state.
Radadiya said that MSP of Rs 1750 per quintal (earlier 1050) has been fixed for paddy, Rs 1950 for millet (earlier 1425) and Rs 1700 for corn (earlier Rs 1425).
