Wankaner palace antiquities theft case solved, 100% silver recovered but in biscuit form

Morbi: Morbi police has recovered 30.485 silver worth Rs 9-10 lakh and solved the case of Wankaner palace antiquities theft.

According to Dr. Karanraj Vaghela, DSP of Morbi, police has recovered 100% mudda mal that was stolen from the palace in the month of July this year.

He said, ‘In the month of July this year, antique things such as canon, replica of Wankaner palace, silver covered chairs etc were stolen from Ranjitvilas palace of Wankaner. During investigation led by Police Sub Inspector Rajesh Vyas of Crime Branch, constables Nandlal and Rajnikant managed to have some crucial leads, based on which a police team was sent to Nashik in Maharashtra from where stolen silver made bird was recovered from one of accused. After questioning four from Devipujak gang namely Ravi and Ajay Dholakia(both are brothers), Ashok Vanakia(their relative) and Kishan Pateliya. All four work in Nashik as rickshaw driver and labourers.’

‘The accused confessed they had used Google map to study the palace location and decided to enter the palace campus from the back side. Ravi was the main planned who had checked presence of CCTV, security persons and worked on minute details. They entered the palace by breaking glass, thrice during 16-19 July in rainfall when lights were off. They sold stolen items to one Mrs. Seema and her son Sunil in Delhi. Both are arrested by Crime Branch team from Delhi.’

‘Seema and Sunil had sold stolen items to one Pyarelal Kapoor in Delhi. Kapoor melted the items and converted them to silver biscuits’, said DSP Vaghela.

Accused Ravi has admitted he was involved in theft incident in Dhrangadhra palace, a few years ago.
