Avsar Nakia is Congress candidate for Jasdan assembly seat by-election

Rajkot: Main opposition Congress party has today declared Avsar Nakia’s name for candidature on Jasdan assembly seat which is going to witness by-poll.
Avsar Nakia is former vice president of Rajkot district panchayat. He has been elected twice as member of district panchayat from Pipardi seat.
1972 born Nakia was rickshaw driver before he entered politics. It was BJP candidate and state cabinet minister Kunvarji Bavalia who brought Nakia to politics. Now Nakia will contest against Bavalia. 47-year old Nakia has 5 daughters and a son.
Polling for Jasdan assembly seat will take place on 20th December. Counting will take place on 23rd December. Last date of nomination is tomorrow(3rd December). While BJP candidate Kunvarjibhai is preparing and doing campaign for by-poll since last many months, Congress has declared its candidate on eve of last date of filling nomination.
5-term MLA from Jasdan seat, Kunvarji Bavalia who has also represented this area as Lok Sabha member resigned from Congress party and post of MLA before joining BJP and becoming State cabinet minister. His resignation invited by-poll.
Jasdan has majority presence of Koli community. Kunvarjibhai and Avsar Nakia both are from this community. Jasdan has also strong presence of Patels.
