4 bills to be tabled in current assembly session, only interim budget tomorrow, full fledged one after LS polls

Gandhinagar: Due to it being a Loksabha election year the full fledged budget session of Gujarat assembly would be held after the polls most likely in June-July and the first session of the year that started from today to culminate on February 22 with a total of five working days is meant for presenting vote on account or interim budget to get the funds to meet with the necessary government expenses.

During the session a total of at least 4 bills would be tabled in the house and likely be passed. Of these 3 were amendment bills related to land ceiling act, appointment of officials in Municipal Corporation and demolition of dilapidated buildings.

The only non-amendment bill would be the one pertaining to the permission of 24 hours opening of shops and establishments.

Meanwhile, after the traditional address by the governor on the first day of the session of the new year, the house also passed a condolence and condemnation resolution for the Pulwama terror attack incident in which 44 CRPF jawans were martyred on February 14. CM Vijay Rupani put forth the resolution and it was supported by LoP Paresh Dhanani.

After it the house was adjourned for the day without any other business as a mark of respect for martyred jawans.

The vote on accounts or interim budget would be tabled by Finance minister cum deputy CM Nitin Patel tomorrow.
