Gujarat issues red alert along its coastline: Rupani

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupanitoday issued red alert along the coastline as a sequel to Indian jet fighters striking terrorist camp inside Pakistan.

Speaking at a farmers’ rally to mark digital inauguration of a modern industrial estate built at a cost of Rs.69.01-crore and the sub-zonal office of PGVCL built at a cost of Rs.1.64-crore besideslaying the foundation stone of a modern marketing yard at Kalavad in Jamnagar district, he said that the people of India are proud of our Armed Forces and that entire nation is solidly behind defeating Pakistan on every front.

Rupani said the insurance company has allocated Rs.2,600-crore as crop insurance and the government is taking steps to ensure the amount is deposited in the farmers’ accounts by March-end.

He said that Gujarat now stands number one in groundnut production of 39.36 lakh tonnes, raw cotton 101 bales and milk 135-lakh. The farm products’ worth has increased 12 times from Rs.13,948-crore in 1995-96 to Rs.168,432-crore now. The groundnut procurement during the last three years stood at Rs.8,500-crore, including Rs.2,200-crore in the current year. The Central and State governments are moving ahead in tandem with the mantra of ‘saunosaath; saunovikas’ for all round development of the state.

Rupani said that 115 dams would be filled up with the Narmada canal waters in the Saurashtra region under the SAUNI Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Yojna.

He distributed allotments to municipal safai workers, assistive kits and cheques under Sujalam Sufalam Yojna. Kalavad APMC Traders Association presented a cheque of Rs.1-lakh to SainikKalyan Board.

Agriculture Minister R.C. Faldu said the state government is keen to provide infrastructure facilities in smaller towns as well.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Jayeshbhai Radadia said the state government plans to build modern marketing yard and other facilities in every taluka.

Jamnagar’s MP Poonamben Madam, Unreserved Commission Chairman JansrajGajera and GIDC Chairman Balwantsinh Rajput also spoke on the occasion.
