Fatepara continues to sulk, Somani holds sammelan in Wankaner, Chudasama to go along with party decision

Surendranagar: Denied party ticket to contest from Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat again, sitting BJP MP Devji Fatepara is sulking. He has already told media persons that he is upset with party’s decision. Fatepara today met Congress leader Shamji Chauhan who had left BJP in the past. After meeting Fatepara, Shamji Chauhan gave this entire episode a casteist twist and said both BJP and Congress were letting down the Koli community leaders. Shamji said he is going to leave Congress party with 1,000 supporters tomorrow. He said he discussed with Fatepara whether they can contest as independent candidates against BJP and Congress both. Fatepara is meanwhile scouting various options. He can leave BJP and support Congress candidate on Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat, possibly former MP and present MLA from Koli community Soma Ganda Patel. Fatepara is also scouting possibility to contest from Dhrangadhra assembly seat, by-poll of which is scheduled to take place along with Lok Sabha election.

Jitubhai Somani

In another development, Wankaner taluka BJP leader Jitubhai Somani organized a gathering in which over 3,000 local leaders from Wankaner taluka and town were present. Jitubhai is reportedly upset with party for its decision to repeat Mohanbhai Kundaria as Rajkot Lok Sabha seat candidate. It has to be seen whether he contest as independent or not.

Rajesh Chudasama

In related news, Junagadh BJP MP Rajesh Chudasama said he is ready to accept party’s decision, whatever it is. Chudasama said party has given him so much. At the young age he was made MLA and then MP. The party also gave him state level responsibilities in organization. He said he would happily work for BJP candidate whoever he is. Chudasama was in news yesterday for visit to Gandhinagar with his supporters where he met state party chief, state party organizational general secretary and others. Chudasama was accompanied by another Koli community leader and former MLA Hirabhai Solanki. As on today it appears that if denied ticket, Chudasama would not revolt.
