On ‘auspicious’ Rath-yatra day in Gujarat, 88 talukas have witnessed rain till 12 pm

Gandhinagar: 88 Talukas of 20 districts of Gujarat have witnessed light to heavy rain today on the auspicious rath-yatra or Ashadi beej day till 12 pm in the noon.
According to official data, from 6 am to 12 pm, maximum 77 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Halol taluka of Panchmahal district. Bodeli in Chhota Udepur has een 67mm, Chikhali in Navsari has seen 58mm, Jambughoda in Panchmahal district has seen 57mm, Quant in Chhota Udepur 47mm. A total of 16 talukas have seen one inch or more rain today. Met has predicted more such spell during the day. In Ahmedabad where the largest Rath Yatra procession was being held, light drizzles have taken place intermittently.
Earlier in the last 24 hours ending 6 am today, a total of 119 of 28 districts had seen rain with Dhanera in Banaskantha district in North Gujarat seeing maximum 74mm. Among other prominent rain receiving talukas in the last 24 hours were Meghraj in Aravalli district 61mm, Deesa in Banaskantha 60mm, Surat city 59mm, Mendarana in Junagadh 50 mm.
The state has so far received over 17% of its annual average rain.
