July 29, 2019
Gandhinagar: The committee set up on the instructions of CM Vijay Rupani, to probe the sensational allegations leveled by a woman against IAS officer of Gujarat cadre Gaurav Dahiya would take the statement of the complainant tomorrow.
On July 25, a five member all women’s committee led by IAS officer Suaina Tomar was constituted.
Tomar today told newsmen that the investigation of the committee has started and two of the members of committee would go to Delhi to take the statement of the complainant.
Notably the committee has two more IAS official Mamta Verma and Sonal Mishra. It is to hand over its report/findings to the government as soon as possible which should take a maximum of one month’s time.
A woman identified as Leenu Singh has alleged that 2010 batch and joint secretary in the General Administration Department (Planning) IAS officer Gaurav Dahiya had compelled her to marry him secretly and later tortured her for giving birth to a girl child.
She has now also alleged that the IAS officer has also married to a third woman who was from his department.
The officer who was already married has denied the allegations saying that the lady was not speaking the truth and he has already given information about it to police and the department in June and February this year.
The woman has filed the complaint with the crime against women cell of Delhi police earlier this month which has now been transferred to the sector 7 police station of Gandhinagar. Dahiya was Director of the National Health Mission till recently and was on last Monday transferred to GAD.
.
The woman has alleged that Dahiya had befriended her through Facebook while he was in Mexico in October, 2017 and she was a final year student in Delhi. Later he came closer to her and requested her to marry saying that he has filed a divorce petition against his first wife. But she was not willing to marry him as her parents were against it and she felt sympathy towards his first wife. The IAS had taken her objectionable pictures after drugging her during their stay in Shangrila hotel in Delhi and had threatened her to upload these on social media if she did not marry her. He also threatened to commit suicide if she did not agree. He also said that he won’t let her marry anybody else.Though her parents were also not willing ,they married in Tirupati Balaji temple on February last year. She alleged that when she gave birth to a girl child, he also tortured her saying that he wanted a male child.
She said that she wanted justice. ‘When I married him, on the very first night I got to know that he did not want to make it public. He was not willing to give me photos of marriage not was interested in getting it registered. I somehow got a few photos from his phone which he was now calling morphed ones. He used to behave like a mad man even before marriage. He gave me money but never touched her daughter. After he came in touch with me he used to come to Delhi quite frequently. These details can be verified through his travel record. Also our going to Tirupati for marriage can be verified through flight related travel data. He is not meeting me for last 3 months. DNA test of my daughter could be done to verify whether he was her father or not. I don’t want my daughter to live an orphan’s life. He has already ruined me but I don’t want it to happen to her,’ She said.
