Good wind speed this Uttarayan and Vasi Uttarayan to add to the pleasure of kite lovers, cloudy weather also to clear by tomorrow

Ahmedabad: The cloudy weather which has brought ‘lines of anxiety on the foreheads’ of many kite-lovers would clear tomorrow and the wind speed on Uttarayan as well as Vasi Uttarayan, the festival of kites, one of the most popular and colorful religious celebrations in Gujarat is likely to be very good and conducive for kite-flying tomorrow and the day after.

The kite lovers in the state and mostly those in the most populous city of Ahmedabad were looking concerned due to sudden change in the climate today with cloudy sky but according to the met office here the weather would clear tomorrow on the Uttarayan day. However some fall in temperature would add some cold in the weather.

Senior Meteorologist of the IMD center and its Director Jayant Sarkar today said that the average wind speed on Uttarayan day tomorrow and the day after in Ahmedabad and and many other places in Gujarat regions was likely to remain 15 to 20 kilometer per hour.

It would be good for kite flying as it requires 10kmph or above for a good kite flying experience.

Over all it would be good for kite lovers.

In fact for the festival-lover Gujaratis, when Uttarayan knocks around the corner, ‘wind’ takes the center-stage of discussion on the eve of Uttarayan ie today.

On Uttarayan and Vasi Uttaryan when lakhs of colorurful kites fill the sky across the state and most of the people are seen on the roof-top through out the day doing kite-fight, shouting ‘Kypochhe’ after cutting the kites and making merry all the way in traditional manner, the presence of good wind adds to the mood while its absence creates a sense of gloom.

So the good news is that like the last two years, this year also there will be enough wind to make kite flying a fun on Uttaryan as well as Basi Uttarayan. Normally for a good kite flying experience the wind speed of 10km per hour is fine.

A dedicated Kite lover in Ghatlodia Jayanti Vachhani and another one Raju Bhavsar of Chnakyapuri area in the city who assemble their ‘gang’ of kite-cutters on their roof top said ‘ A good wind makes us all so happy. The kites soar higher and make us all cheer up. The Kites on the occasion of Uttaryan should not be mistaken as just flying pieces of papers (kites) but actually these represent the ‘joy and mirth’ of all the Gujaratis.’

Another kite lover Prakashbhai Dave said that he loved Uttaryan and spend most of his time on the roof top with friends and family doing kite flying. He also love the delicious Gujarati food-item eaten on the occasion ie Undhiyu (a mixed vegetable item) and Jalebi.

Many big wigs including Home Minister Amit Shah would also join the kite lovers in the city tomorrow.
