February 05, 2020
Gandhinagar: The working of Chief Electrical Inspector’s Office, including all activities of lift and escalator department, has been digitised from today as part of the State Government’s time bound ‘Digital Gujarat’ initiative under the leadership of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
According to Energy Minister Saurabhbhai Patel, one has to apply online for exemption from electricity duty, for electrical contractors’ licence, for applying or seeking exemption from supervisors and wiremen examination.
The application for installing or renewing lifts and escalators has to be made online. There are nearly 80,000 lifts in the state, while 5,000 new lifts are added every year. About 1,200 licences are issued every year. The licence has to be renewed every five years for safety of the users.
From now on all applications and documents have to be uploaded on to the website www.ceiced.gujarat.gov.in. The initiative will make working more efficient and save time. Digitisation was completed ahead of target date, March 31, 2020.
