18 positive case of coronavirus in Gujarat; names of confirmed cases to be made public to alert the contacts

Gandhinagar: Five new positive cases of coronavirus have been found in Gujarat today. With this, the total number of positive cases is 18 in the State. Breakup – Ahmedabad 07, Vadodara 03, Surat 03, Gandhinagar 03, Kutch 01 and Rajkot 01. These details were shared by Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel today. Patel is also state Health minister.
Patel said, in the upcoming days, the government will declare the names of the people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Gujarat so that people who came in contact with them come to know that they have met them and will take proper actions.
Patel said, total 6092 have been put under quarantine across the State. 93 persons breached quarantine rules. They are being searched and put under government controlled quarantine. Any person under quarantine will need to stay in isolation for 14 days without stepping out. They are not allowed to roam freely outside without obtaining certificate from govt authority. In case of breach, they are immediately arrested, sent for quarantine and booked by police.
Patel said, the government will request Election Commission of India to postpone the Rajya Sabha election, polling for which is scheduled to take place on March 26 in view of the coronavirus situation. He said the govt will discuss what to do about ongoing Gujarat Assembly session tomorrow.
Patel said out of total 273 samples tested for coronavirus, reports of 18 are positive and 253 negative.
