Bhuj mosque azan mic provocative remark case; accused sent to Surat jail under PASA

Gandhinagar: DGP, Gujatat Shivanajd Jha today in his daily online briefing said, that a person who used Azan (Islamic prayer call) mic in a mosque in district headquarters Bhuj tow in Kutch district has been arrested and sent to Surat jail under PASA.

‘On 7th of May in Bhuj town of West Kutch, a person entered the mosque in the night, and through a mic for Azaan (Islamic prayer call) spoke something that could create communal tension. Accused has been arrested under PASA and sent to Surat jail,’ Jha said.

The accused as per local newspaper reports has been identified as Mamad Abdulla Luhar, resident of Sanjognagar in Bhuj,

Abdulla entered the mosque namely ‘Masjid e Imam e Rabbani’ at 2.20 am in the morning and gave unscheduled azan call and later gave provocative speech.

This serious matter was noticed by a police constable in night duty as a special police point has been placed near the mosque due to coronavirus situation.

The constable informed the night incharge police sub inspector KH Baria about this. Bhuj town ‘A’ division Police started investigation immediately, however the accused had escaped from the mosque. He was later held in day time.

According to Police Inspector MR Barot, accused was into fabrication work and he was mentally normal.

Mamad had reportedly announced on mic that he was king of Kutch. He also said, ‘Muslims, wake up and come out of your homes with weapons.’ He was booked under IPC sections 153, 153A/B, 188, 504, 269 and 270.
