Gujarat govt orders humidifiers and high flow meters to upgrade the basic ventilators

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government arm Gujarat Medical Services Corporation Ltd (GMSCL) has invited tender for 250 respiratory humidifier compatible with ventilator and same number of high flow meters.

Estimated contract value for humidifiers will be Rs. 1.25 crore while in the case of high flow meter, the estimated contract value is Rs. 12.50 lakh.

It’s worth noting that recently the manufacturer of Dhaman – 1 ventilators had suggested that accessories such as high flow meters and humidifier should be added to upgrade Dhaman – 1.

The owner of Jyoti CNC, Mr. Parakramsinh Jadeja had told media persons that such accessories were unavailable as their manufacturers are located abroad. He had also added that Jyoti CNC has proceeded for indigenous development and manufacturing of such accessories.

Jyoti CNC had also given demonstration at Civil hospital in Asarwa for the same.

The company had developed basic model of ventilator Dhaman-1 in ten days in response to Covid-19 situation and unavailability of ventilators in the last week of March this year. On April 4 the first Dhaman-1 ventilator machine was demonstrated by State Chief Minister himself before the media at Civil hospital in Aswarwa after all approvals and clearances. Subsequently more Dhaman-1 ventilators were given to Rajkot Civil and other hospital also.

Recently a leaked letter from OSD superintendent of Asarwa Civil hospital to GMSCL revealed that Anesthesia department head in Civil hospital had opined that Dhaman-1 and other indigenous ventilators were not giving desired results and the hospital should be given high-end ventilators urgently. In response to media’s query regarding this letter, Jadeja had said that while Dhaman-1 was basic model ventilator, some attachments to it would solve the issue raised.
