6 lakh kg mangoes worth Rs. 4.5 crore sold at Mango Market: AMC

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today in a statement said that 15-day Mango market organized at GMDC ground here witnessed sell of more than 6 lakh kg mango worth Rs. 4.5 crore through around 75,000 visitors. AMC informed that the motive behind this event was to create positive atmosphere in the city in order to normalize the situation and also to help the farmers.
AMC statement said: A temporary mango market was, established by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, in association with Cooperation Department, Government of Gujarat in G.M.D.C. ground for 15 days to facilitate farmers of Saurashtra and South Gujarat to sell their product, which could not be done due to lockdown. It is heartening to note that over 6 lacs kilograms of mango worth more than Rs. 4.5 crores were sold to around 75,000 people during this period. It has benefited thousands farmers in Gujarat as well as created a positive sentiment for creating normalcy in Ahmedabad City.
