Seaplane leaves Maldives for Gujarat

Gandhinagar: A sea plane for Sabarmati Riverfront – Statue of Unity route today took off from Male in Maldives, said Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, Managing Director of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd. He said regular sea plane service will be available four times a day, connecting two great visionary projects given by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the nation – Sabarmati Riverfront and Statue of Unity. Gupta described this as a gigantic leap in making Kevadiya a truly international tourist spot.

It’s worth noting that Prime Minister Narnedra Modi will be in Gujarat on October 31st. He is likely to visit the Statue of Unity site from Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad by boarding a seaplane. With this he will launch a regular seaplane service connecting these two places by private air operator Spicejet. A seaplane for this purpose is coming from Maldives. Trial run of seaplane service is likely to commence on October 27.
