Gujarat govt approval to Rs 787 crore Katosan – Ranuj rail line gauge conversion project

Gandhiinagar: The Government of Gujarat today said it has approved the project for Katosan – Ranuj railway line conversion in Mahesana district.
The first phase of project will witness meter gauge to broad gauge conversion of 27.5 km railway line between Katosan and Bechraji.
The project shall be executed by BRCL (Bechraji Rail Corporation Ltd) promoted by G-Ride a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) partnered by Suzuki Motors, Indian Railways, Government of Gujarat and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
While the first phase would involve Katosan – Bechraji route, the overall project would cover Katosan – Bechraji – Chanasma – Ranuj route.
Total cost of the project is Rs. 787 crore.
Gujarat government’s share in BRCL is 45 per cent while GIDC has 29 per cent share. Suzuki Motors has 26 per cent share.
Sharing these details, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel today said here that the project would boost passenger and industrial mobility in Patan, Ahmedabad and Mahesana districts of North Gujarat.
