Sabarmati: So what happened at popular superstore D Mart near Shyamal cross roads today in the city? Well, the store witnessed large number of visitors since morning itself, possibly to stock the items of home-use ahead of the weekend curfew announced by the government last evening to curb covid19 spread. Though physical distancing and other measures were in place, the footfalls were too big at D Mart to ensure smooth obeyance of all precautionary protocols. A team of Solid Waste department of Amdadvad Municipal Corporation (AMC) reached D Mart Satellite and sealed it for breach of covid guidelines. It is learnt that AMC has also sealed D Mart in Ranip area.

Similar scenes were witnessed at many other superstores also. Visitors at such stores said they had fear that weekend curfew would be extended further, same way the lockdown period was extended time and again early this year.

TV News reports that claimed ‘shortage of milk at Amul parlours’ further fueled this mass behavior of stepping out of home and stock up the home-use items.

State Chief Minister had in reply to media query said today morning that there’s no talk of lockdown at present and only precautionary weekend curfew has been announced for Ahmedabad city.
