Gujarat likely to have India’s first Lithium refinery

Gandhinagar: India’s first Lithium refinery to process imported Lithium ore to produce battery-grade material will be set up in Gujarat by Manikaram Power Ltd with investment of Rs. 1,000 crore, possibly in Sanand or Dholera, reports Indian Express. The company has pact with Australia based Neometals for access to Mount Marion Lithium mine in Western Australia. In Gujarat, Toshiba Corporation, DENSO Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation JV plant of Lithium battery is likely to be operational in the first quarter of this year. Tata and Adani are also likely to set up Lithium battery plant in the State.
