125th Birth Anniversary of Jhaverchand Meghani to be celebrated across Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani today decided to celebrate this year of the 125th Birth Anniversary of National Poet Shri Jhaverchand Meghani as a state level celebration highlighting the pride and honor of the National Poet. The 125th Birth Anniversary of Shri Jhaverchand Meghani is falling on August 28th, 2021.
For this purpose, the Chief Minister has constituted a 12-member committee headed by Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama for state-wide planning and guidance of various programs.
Ishwarsinh Patel, Minister of State for Sports, Youth Cultural Activities, and Vibhavariben Dave, Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare will be the Vice-Chairmen of this committee.
During the meeting, it was also deliberated that the programmes should be organized in such a manner that they revive the life of Meghani and his contributions in folklore–culture into today’s young generation and lovers of literature, arts and culture.
Accordingly, during the meeting it was also discussed that Lalit Kala Akademi and Education Department will jointly organize various competitions in schools and colleges which highlight the life of Poet Meghani. These competitions based on life of Poet Meghani include drawing, Meghani’s heroic songs, lullabies, love-affectionate songs; online exhibition and sale of his books, folklore competition, essay writings, preparing e-books, reading centres of his literary books in gram panchayats, translation of Meghani literature into other languages and others.
The other members of the committee are: C. V. Som – Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Sports and Youth Cultural Activities, Vinod Rao – Education Secretary, Kapadiya – Commissioner of Youth Services Cultural Activities, Vishnu Pandya – President of Sahitya Akademi, Pankaj Bhatt – President of Sangeet Natya Akademi as well as Deputy Secretary of Sports Cultural Activities Department, Sahitya Akademi Secretary, Mahamatra of Sahitya Akademi, Member Secretary of Sangeet Natak Akademi and Secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi.
For effective implementation of the celebrations as per the instructions and guidance of this state level committee, another committee headed by C. V. Som – Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities, has also been formed.
This (second) committee also includes high-rank officials and representatives from departments such as education, youth service, cultural activity, information, tourism, archaeology and museum, library, fine arts academy and others.
